Patients of all ages benefit from preventive cleanings and exams on a routine basis. Our attention to detail helps to pinpoint areas of concern between your dental check-ups, allowing you to take a proactive approach to avoiding everyday problems like cavities and gum disease.
Even the best brushing and flossing will usually leave at least a mild amount of tartar buildup behind. As tartar accumulates, it can cause gingivitis, bone loss, and gum disease. Our Registered Dental Hygienist uses gentle ultrasonic instruments and polish to remove stain and tartar that builds up between visits.
Dr. Zachary Held carefully monitors the health and wear of your teeth at each visit. This allows us to identify even the smallest of concerns while they are still reversible or easily corrected.
Oral Hygiene Instruction
If you have specific oral hygiene concerns, we will work with you to find specific techniques or aids that improve the way you clean your mouth. Sometimes it takes more than just traditional flossing and brushing.
Screening for periodontal disease takes just a few minutes to complete. The detailed exam identifies areas where the gums are beginning to detach from the teeth, allowing you to take actions to prevent future tooth loss.
Sometimes even foods or drinks that we think are healthy for us are the opposite for our teeth. Without making you feel guilty, we’ll discuss smart nutritional choices with you to reduce your risk of tooth decay.
Low radiation digital X-rays are safe and effective for diagnosing tooth decay and bone loss. We recommend routine radiographs to screen for conditions that may not be visible during a clinical exam.
Fluoride varnish is effective against tooth decay, demineralization and sensitivity. We recommend fluoride on all children and adults that have a history of decay or hypersensitivity.
